Our Story

Church History

A testimony of God's sovereign grace, providence, and faithfulness to His people.

The Sovereign Grace Reformed Baptist Church (SGRBC) is a testimony of God's sovereign grace, providence, and faithfulness to His people. The church traces its beginnings to January 14, 2021, when a group of believers left Camarin Christian on Fire International Church (CCOFIC) out of conviction for the truths of Reformed theology.

On January 17, 2021, these brethren held their first fellowship, thus forming what came to be known as Sovereign Grace Community Church (SGCC). From its origins in a pragmatic and seeker-sensitive charismatic background, the Lord graciously led the fellowship to embrace the historic Christian faith expressed in the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. In time, the church gradually reformed its practices in worship, liturgy, and theology according to the authority of Scripture.

Recognizing their need for biblical guidance, the church sought oversight from a confessional Reformed Baptist congregation. In November 2023, the Reformed Baptist Church of Malabon (RBCM), under the leadership of Pastor Ephraim Caña and its deacons, lovingly provided counsel, oversight, and faithful ministry, which became an instrument of God's grace in shaping SGCC.

By January 2024, the Lord opened the way for the church to relocate to the Mangiliman Residence at Maligaya Parkland, Camarin, Caloocan, where the first Lord's Day service was held on February 4, 2024. Around this time, brethren from Chief Cornerstone Reformed Baptist Church (CCRBC), who faced geographical challenges, were also led by God's providence to join SGCC on April 21, 2024, further strengthening the body of Christ.

After nearly a year of oversight, examination, and preparation, RBCM affirmed that SGCC was ready to be constituted as a true church of Christ. On August 24, 2024, with joy and thanksgiving, thirty-nine (39) pioneering members covenanted together to form the Sovereign Grace Reformed Baptist Church (SGRBC). On that same day, Pastor Jonathan Orbe was ordained as pastor, together with Deacon Lemuel Salubo as the first deacon of the church.

Months later, through much prayer and deliberation, the congregation also ordained Deacons Rjay Vicente and Khristianne Wayne Gamba on December 8, 2024. And recently, Deacon Richard Ipaniz on June 14, 2026, to further serve the flock. On May 28, 2026, at Cubao Reformed Baptist Church, Pastor Jonathan graduated from the Grace Ministerial Academy, having successfully completed its four-year ministerial course.

Key Milestones

Though the journey has been marked by trials and challenges, the Lord has been faithful to sustain His church. Today, SGRBC stands as a local congregation, holding fast to the Word of God, committed to the pure worship of Christ, and upholding the doctrines of grace. With hearts full of gratitude, the church remembers the labor of love of RBCM in guiding them to this point. Yet, above all, we ascribe all glory to the God of sovereign grace who has called us to Himself.

"This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes."

Psalm 118:23
